Oh, also, I unexpectedly have my son's A/C dismantled in the upstairs shower this afternoon. 🙄

Trying to get spray lubricant into my son's air conditioner is a real pain without one of those little red spray straws.

Finally sitting down to watch ep. 4 of "The Mandalorian". Aspect about which I'm most excited? My long-time supercrush, Gina Carano, is in this one.

Okay, fine. My long-time Super Crush. I made the reference.

I AM EATING AN ORANGE FROM OUR ORANGE TREE.

It's good.

I never learned a word of Hawaiian in school, spend years homeless in Hawaii as a Native Hawaiian under imperial US capitalism working as a social worker/teacher paid starvation wages

But the Kanaka Maoli are taking our country back. Our *successful* prevention of a 1.4 billion dollar desecration (TMT) for 150 days has ignited, protests, strikes, shutdowns from Hawaiian airlines to the hotel industry, with Hawaiian flags, language spoken proudly one again

I seem to be the only person whose opinion of myself I trust.

Interesting thing:

My sense of self is so well-defined that I never see myself in others' words. People can say they're talking about me and then deliver cold facts, and unless they're negatives, it's either not me or it's not a defining quality. (Lots of negatives don't define me, either, but I work hard to own up to them.)

consumerism v. indigence

I could win/inherit a vast sum, walk out of my newly-hired accountant's office with a feeling that I'm set for life, and I bet my goddamn brain would turn down buying a $10 item I always wanted. "Poor" is an incredibly useful, but eventually detrimental state of mind.

consumerism v. indigence

Browsing Black Friday deals on the smile site, looking at kitchen stuff. There are lots of items I've wanted around the kitchen, and they are reduced in price,

and my "poor person" brain looks at each and asks why I wanted each one as an ingrained spending deterrent. I KNOW something came up where I wanted every one of these things, and my brain is using my forgetfulness to reinforce the idea that I should never, ever spend money, ever.

It ain't like the US is much (any) better, babies, . . . and I at least feel we put less colorful veneer on our prejudice?

The emboldened racists here are coming out to let us shut them down. Some of us are attempting to unlearn. I ain't see none of that in Winnipeg.

So many Canadians will laud olive branches offered in the name of recognition, then turn around and eagerly tell you of a Native doing the things the poor are reduced to doing. What hilarity!

Oh, holidays. You remind me (after a while) how so many Canadians are racist trash.

There's nothing to disabuse one of their notions about the RCMP like watching two Mounties stand in a hallway and shout, "WHAT'S YOUR TRIBE? DO YOU HAVE A TREATY CARD?!" at an obviously unconscious person.

Powerful speeches and solidarity at Plymouth Massachusetts at the 50th National day of mourning. Indigenous leaders shared stories of their continued struggles all around the world. They and their spirits remain not conquered.
