food question

Has anyone else eaten a Beyond patty? I wanna talk about impressions.

food question

@thraeryn Yes. This is a conversation I'm down for.

What did you think? How often do you eat meat?

I eat a pretty fair bit of meat, and I found the taste response I had extremely satisfying

@thraeryn
I really liked it. I've had it from a number of venues, and am really curious about buying it and preparing it myself.

I eat a lot of meat, but have found that when I want a burger, I tend to go for non-beef and or veggie burgers. I found the Beyond burger a really tasty option with a nice mouthfeel and good juicyness when prepared correctly.

It can be super dry and unpleasant if overcooked.

I found the texture a little odd; it resembles the gnurples, all the cartilage and tendon bits, that are normally a small percentage of ground beef. So . . . it seemed meaty, if the meat were the lowest grade?

The taste is damned fine. Like, the heme that they add hit my tongue and told my entire CNS, "This was an animal." I'm not a supertaster (thank glob), but I am able to pay a little bit of attention (🤷🏼‍♂️); the chemicals in that bite said "MEAT". Impressive feat.

food question

@thraeryn That's what I was most impressed by too. I'm normally of the opinion that trying to fake a "meat" flavor is a waste of a veggie patty's time...

But this one does it right.

Does make me wonder if vegans who are used to various veggie patties are going to stick with their options and stay away from the "too meaty" Impossible and Beyond.

I mean, that's not the market those companies aim for anyway. They want to get The Rest Of Us.
